Damien’s career as a writer began in fourth grade when he wrote a ghost story and won first prize for best Halloween story. If you ask him what it was about, he couldn’t tell you, but he thinks that it involved a boy ghost who had a crush on a young girl ghost. After his first taste of small scale success, Damien kept writing to entertain himself as well as his peers. On through middle school his teachers kept telling him that writing was right up his alley and that he should keep on keeping on. His momentum kept going all through high school as he worked on the school paper and wrote creative stories and small time comic books to make his friends laugh. When he got to college however, he was told by an ignorant counselor that there were no degrees in Creative Writing. He convinced himself that he could be a journalist for about five minutes and then ended up getting a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from
After meeting his future wife in 2005, he learned that there was life beyond his high school writing and learned how to submit some of his work. Ever since he’s been trying to make it in a world of highly educated writers, his wife included. So far he has a few things published with a few more things to come soon. His next goal for Damien is to make some money doing what he loves, just like the rest of us. For now he is attending school to become an automotive technician and is working as a maintenance mechanic for a rental car company. He writes poetry, fiction and nonfiction.
